  • North Carolina Police Officer Busted On Sex Charges
    Reported by: Ken Curtis

    Tuesday, Oct 27, 2009 @10:57am CDT

A Duke University police officer has been arrested on charges he raped a female acquaintance after the two went out to a local bar. Webster Delenn Simmons, 37, of Rougemont, N.C. was taken into custody after the alleged victim reported the attack. Investigators also have recovered evidence in the case and are looking into the possibility the woman may have been drugged.

The attack is believed to have happened early Saturday morning. Simmons reportedly is from the Houston County area and has family ties here.

Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes said Simmons works as a campus officer in Durham, North Carolina. He will be suspended pending further investigation of the case. He is being held in the Houston County Jail under $120,000 bond.
